boys' & girls' BRIGADE

A Christian foundation, Boys' Brigade has a proven track record for reaching out to the local community providing balanced 4-sided developmental programs (Physical, Spiritual, Educational and Social) for boys of all backgrounds, abilities, and interests. Boys' Brigade broadens their horizons and skills with local, national, and international recognition for their achievements.

Boys' Brigade is designed for boys between the ages of 5 to 18, divided into three age group sections. We run on Monday nights through the school terms with our groups in the following time slots:

7pm Anchors: Boys, aged 5-7

8:30pm Juniors: Boys, aged 8-11

9pm Seniors: Boys, aged 12-18

The program provides boys with a mix of fun, adventure, and challenge. Boys' Brigade mentors and empowers each member to reach for their potential, building their resilience, and enabling them to find their place in leading and impacting their world today and into the future. Boys' Brigade is a uniformed, worldwide organisation that has been bringing boys to Christ for over 130 years.

Monday nights include crafts, games, devotional, and learning activities. Through the year, the boys take part in State events and fun activities. We hold an annual camp where there is typically swimming, archery, a bonfire, and plenty of games.

Boys' Brigade provides a church based opportunity for boys to develop into strong Christian men. Parents can be assured that the leaders are Christian men and women seeking to see the boys grow in the understanding of God in a controlled and disciplined environment.

The Boys' Brigade motto is, "Sure and steadfast."

Berwick Girls' Brigade is part of an international Christian Youth organisation which supports the family, serves in the community, and meets the needs of girls today. It operates through local churches for girls in prep through to year 12.

We meet every Thursday night during school terms from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. Our goal is “To help girls become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ and through self-control, reverence, and a sense of responsibility to find true enrichment of life.” Our well planned programs cover a wide range of activities which help the physical, social, educational, and spiritual growth of our girls.

Starting with simple programs that include singing, crafts, and learning outcomes,

we lead into a full range of subjects and projects including the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen’s Awards. These present an exciting challenge to the older teenagers and girls are encouraged to take part in leadership training within the Brigade. We also do “Operation Reach-out” where we learn about companies in other countries and fund raise for our groups that need a bit of extra help.

We are a big brigade with over sixty girls attending on a regular basis and we have five groups – Cadets, Young Juniors, Older Juniors, Seniors, and Pioneers. We begin the night together with games and prayer circles then break up into appropriate age groups. Many of our older girls complete the Queen’s Award which is the highest award presented.

Our motto is, "Seek, serve and follow Christ."
